By Your Words You Shall Be Justified
And
By Your Words You Shall Be Condemned

This is an evangelical tract. It is out of print and cannot be ordered at this time.

From my position as a Federal Agent, I had the privilege to witness the entire legal system from the beginning of an investigation, when raw information was received, right to a U.S. Court of Appeals ruling on a case. I have also studied the Bible. It is clear, when you study the Bible through the eyes of law enforcement that God deals with mankind through a legal system. The United States' legal system closely parallels the Divine system.
Law enforcement today, with sophisticated electronic equipment, can monitor and record conversations. The defendants own words then can be reproduced at any future date as evidence in court. This concept of using the defendants own words in court to prove guilt is exactly what the Bible states will happen before God on judgment day:

"But I say to you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof on the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified and by your words you shall be condemned." Matthew 12:36-37.

What I would like to do is show how the legal principles of an actual investigation and court trial of mine closely parallels the Divine legal system. The Bible is clear, everyone is under God's law, which could result in your appearance before the court of a holy and righteous God.
I received information that an organized crime (OC) member had bribed a government agent. An undercover operation was begun, and an agent was sent to meet with the OC member. The undercover agent was wearing a hidden recorder which captured all the conversations. The agent was offered a bribe and eventually a large bribe was paid. The OC member was arrested, tried, and convicted of bribery. He was sentenced to jail.
During the investigation, there were 20 hours of recorded telephone conversations and personal meetings. Virtually every word of the 20 hours of conversation was captured on tape. The conversations were painstakingly transcribed, by me (as close to being correct as humanly possible), and the transcripts and tape recordings were presented as evidence before a jury. The jury heard the actual words and expressions just as they were spoken by the defendant months before. The heart of the government's case, to prove the crime, was the 20 hours of the defendant's own words. These words proved to be evidence the defense could not overcome, and by his own words, the OC member was found guilty and sentenced to jail.
It is also interesting, that although the defendant was tried for bribery, his own words in a spiritual sense convicted him of much more. Only 20 hours were recorded, yet such words could be heard as using the name of the Lord as a curse, general cursing, sexual immorality, greed, fraud, blackmail, extortion, lies and much more. All this was found in only 20 hours of conversation. Can you imagine what a lifetime recording would disclose!
During an undercover investigation, the FBI used video and sound to record several politicians taking bribes to help an alleged Arab sheik. After the conviction of a congressman, jurors were reported to have said, "the tapes showed it all," and "the real congressman was on the video tape and not on the witness stand." If the government can capture every word spoken during 20 hours of conversations or produce a video for a portion a person's lifetime, imagine what a holy and righteous God can do with your lifetime!
The Bible speaks about God's judgment day. It is called the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15). This is where all of condemned humanity will stand in judgment before God. After conviction at this trial, the sentence will be eternal separation from God in a place of torment called hell.

Jesus Christ described hell as a place - "where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

On judgment day every word spoken over your entire lifetime can be used against you:

"Every idle word that men speak they shall give account thereof on the day of judgment" Matthew 12:26.

Everything that was said and done in hiding shall be brought to light - "For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in the closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops." Luke 12:2.
You will be judged in perfect righteousness according to your own words, works, and thoughts. Yes even your thoughts -" Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." Matthew 5:28.
Who can stand before God and have his entire life reviewed? Who has never cursed or lied or stolen or hated or had an impure thought? One sin is enough to separate you from God. The Bible states that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and there is none righteous, no, not one.” God views sin as a criminal act against His law, and right now everyone are as felons before God deserving His wrath and judgment.
God loves you, and He wants you to have peace in your life and to be with Him for eternity. Before you can have assurance of eternal life with God, the penalty for sin must be dealt with. God in His love and mercy, legally speaking, has provided you with a defense attorney, an Advocate, the Lord Jesus Christ - "And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous." John 2:1.
The dictionary defines an advocate as: "A person who pleads another's cause, specifically a lawyer” God Himself, through Jesus Christ, became the Advocate for sinful mankind! Jesus Christ went far beyond what any human defense attorney would do for you.

When the Lord Jesus died on the cross, He paid the full legal penalty for your sin - "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us” Galatians 3:13.

His shed blood on the cross set you free from the penalty of being a felon before God - "In whom we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sins" Ephesians 1:7.

He died as a criminal in your place - "that he should taste death for every man "Hebrews 2:9.

In modern terms, Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, took the "rap" for you. He became a felon for you and took the full weight of the penalty for breaking God's law. No person, on their own, can stand before God's court of law. God, through Jesus Christ, has provided the way for you to be reconciled with Him:

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21.

To be reconciled, God now requires that you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior-Advocate. God will not forgive you for sin unless you receive His Son as your Advocate:

"I am the way the truth and the life; no man cometh unto the father but by me.” John 14:6.

To those who trust in Christ as their Savior, He is their Advocate. To those who reject Christ, He is their Judge. All who have not received Jesus Christ as their Savior-Advocate will have to stand trial, defenseless, before a holy and righteous God. They will have to face the wrath of God's law without any hope, and suffer the full consequences for the penalty of sin. The penalty is eternal separation from God:

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” Matthew 25:41.

Having assurance of eternal life with God is no great mystery. It is tied to a Divine legal system. If you understand the American legal system, then you also can easily understand the Divine system, and how to have your sin forgiven by God. The Bible states that right now you can escape the Great White Throne Judgment. You can escape the humiliation of having all your sins brought to the light. You can escape the horror of standing defenseless before God and being condemned to eternal punishment. You can escape judgment by receiving Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior-Advocate. He has taken the full penalty for your sin; His blood was shed and the wrath of God's law has been served on Christ.
When Jesus Christ is your Advocate, God is now free to give you a Divine pardon, and parole you into a new life. This new life includes forgiveness of sin and assurance of eternal life with Christ. With your sin forgiven, God will reveal Himself to you in a real and personal way. You can enter into an exciting relationship with God:

"And this is eternal life, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3.

Right now by your own words, spoken from your heart in true repentance, you can be forgiven by God. If you believe that the words of your lifetime have condemned you before God, now is the time that your words can cause a Divine pardon. If you confess that you need Jesus Christ as your Savior-Advocate, you will be forgiven:

"That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shah be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" Romans 10:9-10.

With a simple from the heart prayer and repentance, you can receive a Divine pardon and be paroled into a new life in Christ. A prayer such as this: God I have sinned and broken Your law. My own words over my lifetime have condemned me. I now repent of my past life. I realize that your Son paid the full price for my sin, when He shed His blood on the cross. I now confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Because of Jesus, I now have forgiveness of sin and assurance of eternal life with You. Daily prayer and Bible reading will give you the spiritual power needed to live a life that will be pleasing to God.
If you do not confess Jesus Christ as your Advocate, then before God's court of law your own words from your entire lifetime will be used against you. I pray that everyone reading this article will trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior-Advocate.

And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous -1 John 2:1.
