The White Throne Judgement

This tract uses an acutally federal court scene to show what judgment day will be like. This tract is part of the Police Packet and can be ordered in bulk.

I can vividly remember many years ago sitting in federal court waiting for a hearing on one of my cases. The courtroom was packed, and the judge had much on his docket before he reached my case. I was daydreaming when suddenly the Assistant United States Attorney sitting next to me, nudged me in the ribs. He drew my attention to a defense attorney who had just walked in front of us on the way to the judge’s bench.

The United States Attorney said he knew this defense attorney. He was from one of the best known criminal defense law firms in the nation. Because of US Attorney’s interest, I intensely watched this defense attorney. Actually, there were two defense attorneys from this firm representing a young woman who was charged with heroin smuggling.

I focused on the woman, and it was obvious she was wealthy by her law firm and the way she dressed. After some conversation with the defense attorney, the judge directed his questions to the young woman. He read the charges against her and the federal law she had violated. He told her the penalty she faced. He then asked her how she plead to the charge. With her head bowed, standing between her two attorneys from this national law firm, and in a weak voice that could be barely heard she said, “Guilty your honor.”

When she said guilty, I heard loud sobbing in the row directly behind me. I turned and there was a man and woman who appeared to be her parents, crying and sobbing. They also were very nicely dressed and appeared to be very wealthy.
I continued watching and next a Spanish woman with a legal aid attorney appeared before the judge. She was a conspirator in the drug smuggling. The judge then asked her how she plead. Standing next to her attorney, with her head bowed, in a very low voice she said, “Guilty your honor.” Directly to my right, I heard sobbing. I turned and there crying was a large group of people from her family. By their dress, they appeared to be poor.
I then noticed the majestic setting of this federal court. The judge was sitting on a high and impressive bench made of beautiful wood. In fact, the entire courtroom was finished with beautiful wood. Behind the judge was a huge marble slab, and in the center of the slab was the Great Seal of the United States. The American flag was behind the judge. The entire courtroom was charged with power and authority.
As I watched, both the rich and poor standing helpless before the judge in the majestic courtroom surroundings; as I heard the crying and sobbing of loved ones; as I looked into the faces of the family of the guilty, the chapter in the Bible about standing before God on Judgment Day flashed into my mind. The entire courtroom scene, I had just witnessed, was a tiny example of Judgment Day. It was clear to me that this court was like God’s court, and God deals with mankind through a Divine legal system.
Revelation, chapter 20 had come to mind. There is not a more ominous section the entire Bible than this chapter. God is sitting on a Great White Throne on Judgment Day, and all of condemned humanity stands before Him to be judged for breaking His law. This section of the Bible follows:

Revelation 20:12-14 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

I researched the Bible, and to my amazement, found that God has a government. Our legal system very closely parallels God’s Divine government. By understanding the legal system, you can easily understand God’s government. The Gospel of Jesus Christ does not “hang in the air” but is tied directly into a Divine legal system.

God’s legal system is listed below:

· God’s penal code will be found in the Bible. Jesus Christ speaking, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” John 12:48.

· Purpose of God’s penal code is to show guilt:

“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Romans 3:20.

· Breaking God’s penal code is a felony called sin:

“Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law for sin is the transgression of the law.” 1 John 3:4.

· All of mankind has committed criminal acts (sin) against God’s law:

“For all hath sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23.

· Evidence to be used by God on Judgment Day. Words, thoughts, and actions

Words - “Every idle word that men speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.” Matthew 12 36,37.
Thoughts - “Whosoever looketh on a women to lust after hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Matthew 5:28.
Actions - “For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid, that shall not be known.” Luke 12:2.

· The trial will be held at the Great White Throne.

· Punishment for those found guilty of sin. Eternal death which means separation from God:

“For the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23.

· The jail sentence will take place in hell:

“But rather fear him which able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28.

· The duration of the punishment will be for eternity:

“Depart from me, ye cursed into everlasting fire” Matthew 25:41.

· God’s government provides for a Court appointed attorney to defend against the charges of sin:

“If any man sin we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” 1John 2:1.

God’s Word declares because of sin all of mankind is separated from God; however, God loves you and wants you to have eternal life with Him. You cannot have eternal life with God until the criminal charges of sin against you are released. The words, thoughts, and actions over your lifetime have brought condemnation before God. The concept of being under the penalty for sin before God is of the utmost importance.
God loves you but, because He is holy righteous, and just, He cannot, within His government, just ignore sin. He would no longer be righteous and just, if He did not judge sin. God’s method of freeing you from the penalty of sin was to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross. When the Lord Jesus shed his blood and died on the cross, He paid the full penalty for your sin:

I Peter 2:24 “Who in his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree”
Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

Jesus Christ died in your place - “He should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9. In modern terms, the Lord Jesus Christ took the full “rap” for your sin. The sinless Son of God became sin, so you could have assurance of eternal life with God:

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Through completely trusting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, God has provided you with a way to escape the Great White Throne Judgment. Christ is your lawyer, who became a felon for you, and took the full punishment of God’s law that you deserve. God now requires that you receive His Son as your Savior-Advocate.
God will not forgive you of sin until you receive Jesus Christ as your Advocate. God does not ask of you any more than would the United States government. If you refuse a government appointed attorney to defend you, including one who would go to jail for you, then you would have to stand defenseless against the full authority of the government. You will be subject to the full penalty of the law.
If you have not received the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will have to stand trial, defenseless, before a holy and righteous God to answer for every sin committed. You will have to face the full penalty for sin which is eternal separation from God in hell.
Right now you can escape God’s judgment for your sin. If you say you have not sinned you make God a liar:

1 John 1:10 “If we say that we have not sinned we make him a liar”

God has done everything to forgive you, now you have to repent (Turn away from your life of sin) and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. With Christ as your Savior, you receive forgiveness for your sin, which is a Divine pardon and God’s power in your life over sin, which is Divine rehabilitation.
God requires that from your heart in true repentance you make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior. This can be done right now with a simple from the heart prayer between you and God.
All those who have trusted the Lord Jesus as their Savior will not have to face the Great White Throne Judgment of God. When you truly trust Christ as your Savior, you have assurance of eternal life with God:

1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know ye have eternal life”

When you make Jesus Christ your Advocate, your name will be written in God’s book of life. You will not have to stand trial before the Great White Throne.
Eternal judgment for sin waits for all who have not trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior. God’s plan for forgiveness of sin and assurance of eternal life is very simple. God loves you. He wants you to have eternal life with Him. Accept God’s love and forgiveness by repenting of sin and completely trusting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Right now, you can have your name written in God’s book of life.
